porn to rock

Ok my friends, you probably don’t know Lille yet, except if you’re French or Belgian. But besides being the third biggest city in France, Lille has a great record in electronic music and was instrumental in the development of techno in France as a gate to Belgium and the host of the famous – but now closed – record shop USA Import.

Lille has a lot to offer and may well surprise you. Particularly 3 very different and complementary great record shops … Continue reading

INTERVIEW OF MUSIC BLOG SODWEE ’S CREATOR

Sundaze 35

BMS : hello Ben, you’re Sodwee’s creator. How did the whole story start? What gave you the idea to start Sodwee?

Ben : At First, I was asked by the pub chain I was working for to take care of the music programming and started picking up music tracks and making playlists then. I then moved on, worked for Emirates (the airline) as a Stewart based out of Dubai, that’s when I started a blog about travelling. On top of each post, I was including a music track or dubbing my videos with tracks I really liked, followers/readers started talking more about the music I featured than the actual posts. So, I stopped posting travel blogs to start Sodwee as it is known now when I came back from Dubai 3 years ago, for the record, “Sodwee means ‘Sound Of Da WEEk” Continue reading

THE LAST SHOP STANDING

téléchargementThe last shop standing” is about the rise, the fall and the resurrection of independent record shops in the UK. Starting in the 60′s, it tells why nearly 2000 record shops have already disappeared across the UK and asks whether we will be left with no record shops with the continuing rise of downloading. It also gives some hope showing the resurrecting passion for vinyls for it is a unique material and an object of respect which creates a different relationship between the user and the music itself.

I discovered this store around 2001 when it opened, and I have been often thankful for that day since then.
